The art studio, located on the 7th floor of the McCaughey building, is a community space where students can work on personal creative projects.
The College’s bathroom and toilet facilities are unisex and shared. The ratio of showers to students is about 1:5 (Graduates about 1:4. Some graduate accommodation features ensuite shower and toilet facilities)
The Students’ Club owns two full-size billiards tables. Interested students pay a small annual fee to cover table maintenance.
The College has secure storage for about 50 bikes.
Limited car parking is available upon application.
The Chapel is open at all times for prayer and reflection. Services are held on Sunday evenings.
A multifunction device, with scanning, colour copying and printing facilities is available for student use in the Library. A photocopier and fax machine are also available for student use.
The College prides itself on its extensive gardens for student enjoyment. There are two large lawns (Wyselaskie and Picken) as well as maintained gardens lining the main drive and surrounding the buildings.
The Students’ Club maintains a well-equipped Gym, including free weights and weight machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, and rowing machines.
All student rooms at Ormond are networked, with high speed access to the internet. There are laser printers for student use in each building. Students bring their own computers or use the computer labs at the University. The College does not provide computers for student use. IT assistance is available through the IT subcommittee under the direction of the IT Manager.
Shared washing machines and driers are located on the floors of each building. There is no charge for the use of these facilities. Students purchase their own washing powder.
In 2010 the College will be redeveloping the MacFarland Library site for the new Academic Centre. A working library, housing all important reference collections, current textbooks and popular recreational reading will be housed in the JM Young Room while the redevelopments are completed.
Library Hours are Monday to Friday 10 – 6pm. Library hours are extended over swotvac and exam periods.
The College’s music facilities include a grand piano, upright piano and drum kit, housed in three practice rooms.
The Shop is manned by members of the Shop Subcommittee and sells a variety of snacks and beverages. It is usually open once or twice each evening.
Two plexipave courts are available by booking.
There is a television room equipped with large-screen plasma, DVD and video facilities. It is popular for video nights.
