Music & Choir
The Choir of Ormond College
The Choir, which has an international reputation for excellence, includes in its repertoire traditional sacred music and new European, American and Australian works, spirituals, and secular music ranging over several languages and centuries.
The Choir leads the music each Sunday evening during semester at the
College Chapel Service and presents a series of public concerts annually,
as well as performing at festivals and other events on an irregular
basis. The Choir undertakes regular overseas tours.
Membership of the Choir
Being a member of the Choir entails a commitment and dedication to
producing excellent music. The rewards are great: the music itself;
being part of a dynamic and lively group of young people whose shared
interests start with music; the pleasure of performance and interaction
with audiences.
Membership of the Choir is through audition. Members of the Choir
have the status of Choral Scholar and receive financial support from
the College.
Once accepted into the Choir, you must be prepared to maintain your
commitment by:
- attending two rehearsals per week during the semester
- singing in Chapel every Sunday evening during the semester
