Music

Music is an important part of Ormond life. Music practice rooms enable residents to maintain their musical interests and to form small jazz, rock and classical groups. Students looking to continue singing at a high level might consider auditioning for The Choir of Ormond College. For others interested in singing more informally, the MacFarland Singers offers a relaxed approach, and a less demanding repertoire, which can be enjoyed by beginners and those with choral experience. There are plenty of performance opportunities through Pleasant Sunday Evenings, informal student concerts, the intercollegiate Battle of the Bands, and performance at College functions.

We have music rooms and pianos, including a medium grand piano, for student use. Each year several students, who are supported by Music Scholarships, have the responsibility of co-ordinating musical events and encouraging residents to find their musical niche within the College community.

Please go to facilities for a full list of music facilities.

In August 2008 the College performed its first musical, 'City of Angels', in which many students came together to perform, play in the orchestra, etc.
