It is a condition of residence that all undergraduate students are required to undertake Student Service.
Student Service (SS) began in 1975, when it was known as "The Two
Hour Service", as an initiative to help keep fees manageable. Currently
Student Service occurs once a fortnight. By participating in the domestic
tasks of the College you have the opportunity to work alongside other
students whom you might otherwise not get to know.
Most students do Student Service in the kitchen/dining area where
they are required to be part of a team which serves meals, waits on
tables, clears tables and washes dishes. Student Service can also
be carried out in the Library or in the maintenance area. At the start
of the semester you will receive your Student Service allocation with
a statement from the coordinators on the College policies and rules
regarding the conduct of SS.
