OCA Dinner2009

Watch the video of highlights of the 2009 Dinner, including the Master's address.

This year’s OCA Dinner on 2 October attracted over 200 alumni from the 1940s to the 2000s, and their partners, with a great mix of guests across the different eras. This was evidenced during the lusty singing of the College songs: The Ormond Chorus, sung by the pre 1970s alumni under the capable leadership of George Swinburne (1964), and the overwhelming rendition of Land of Hope and Glory sung by the more recent alumni, lead by Andrew Moffat (2004).

OCA President Rob La Nauze (1965) welcomed the guests on behalf of the OCA, and Chair of Council Andrew Michelmore (1971) introduced the speaker – the Master, Dr Rufus Black (1988).

Rufus spoke about the new strategic direction for the College: One College, Five Communities. He enthused everyone with his vision of a larger College where the communities: undergraduates, graduates, alumni, non-residents and SCR/staff will all help to create the Ormond of the future. The guests paid close attention to Rufus’ address and many later expressed their excitement about the new strategic direction for the College.

OCA Committee member Sarah Sheer (2004) made the closing remarks and proposed the toast to the College which was enthusiastically taken up by all.

The pictures below show some of the guests and happenings at the Dinner.
