Supporting Ormond
The Campaign for Ormond - Securing our Future

Ormond College is committed to providing an outstanding residential and learning experience for members of the University of Melbourne.

Following the development of the College's Strategic Plan in 2005, the Council and Executive worked with residents and staff to determine our highest priorities to achieve this purpose. Two clear priorities have emerged:

  1. An Academic Centre to support learning (estimated cost $3M)
  2. Scholarship and Endowment Funds to support diversity (initial goal of $2M achieved)

Both of these important projects require significant fundraising - the College's cash flow does not have the capacity to fund any major capital development or refurbishment. The Council committed to a major capital campaign in 2007 to raise a minimum of six million dollars from our community to fund these two priorities.

We need many philanthropic gifts - large and small - to achieve our campaign goals. Please give as you are able to this campaign. A pledge/gift form may be downloaded here.

1.   Academic Centre: estimated cost $3M

The central aim of this project is to redevelop the MacFarland Building as a facility for learning and information access to support the College's vision for learning at Ormond.

Integrating academic, library and IT functions in this new Academic Centre will make a major contribution towards achieving our vision.

2.   Scholarship & Endowment Funds: objective $2M

The central aim of this goal is to raise significant additional funds for scholarships to support the College's continuing commitment to a diversity of students at Ormond.

Our first objective - to increase these funds by two million dollars, or 20%, by 2010 to a sufficient level for the College to continue to attract and retain students of high achievement on both merit and equity grounds - has been achieved with the philanthropic support of the Ormond community. We will continue to seek gifts to augment these funds.
