Prof Hilary Charlesworth AM

Distinguished scholar of humans rights law


Prof Hilary Charlesworth AM FASSA is an internationally recognised scholar and a distinguished professor of international, human rights and humanitarian law.

 

Educated at The University of Melbourne and Harvard Law School, she has held visiting appointments at United States and European universities, ARC Fellowships and serves on the editorial boards of several leading law journals. Hilary was awarded the Goler T Butcher Medal for ‘outstanding contributions to the development or effective realization of international human rights law’. She has also worked with non-governmental organisations to implement human rights, including as a judge in the International Court of Justice.
